The cost of living is a huge issue. It’s getting so you need to work for a company with a successful exit to afford to stay. If you work for one of the 80% that don’t make it, then you can’t afford to stay long-term. It’s even worse if you consider most of the startups with a successful exit don’t maintain their success. 3-years after IPO most are trading below their IPO price. So you’ll attract a bunch of young people that want to roll the dice, and once they strike out a few times they’ll leave to somewhere more affordable. Even ones that make it might wake up one day and realize CA taxes are insane.

Too bad, the food was decent here.
