Infrastructure usually lag behind population growth. Faster growth needs better infrastructure and better infrastructure leads to faster growth.
Design of city can’t be changed because of rule of law and property rights . So just have to live with it.
There are plenty of land owned by filthy rich boomers. Government can’t force them to sell and buy them cheap forcefully because of property rights. Since USA is built on property rights, just live with it. Can’t have the cake and eat it too.
I am an YIMBY and all for building more housing. At the same time I don’t think we should be in the business of protecting people who just happened to live here before others, be they renters or property owners. There is no contradiction between the two.
There are baby steps to make existing transit more efficient, like building higher density housing next to major transit routes. Even those got blocked in legislature.
I see @manch is considering moving to Austin and each year he didn’t go, he has to rationalize his decision. Schools are not just high schools, told you before which are the top high schools in Austin. Elementary and middle schools are pretty good in 78681,
