Austin MSA vs SFBA and TX vs CA

This is equivalent of doing at legislative level what antifa people did to small main street business in cities like Seattle, Portland and Chicago.

Does anyone have any news about that Sierra Club? Lot of problems in California will be solved if the the Sierra Club relocate to outside state. But, it will be equivalent to handing over California’s headache to someone else.

You don’t need to LIVE in SV to do either of those things.

We care when we see other places advocating the same failed policies as SF. We point to SF as the reason to NOT implement those policies. Some people apparently cheer for failed polices being implemented other places.

I am just pointing out the obvious fact that SF has not failed. If it has, it’s failing in a very peculiar way that’s making so many people rich.

The number of people getting rich from each IPO is smaller and smaller. Income inequality is higher than ever and homelessness is at a record high. I honestly can’t imagine the thought process of pushing for policies to reduce inequality on a national level then celebrating SF for it’s sky high inequality. You keep saying you want Texas to become California. I guess you want more income inequality everywhere.

You know what will push up income equality? By creating jobs paying fresh grads 200K out of the gate. That’s the side product of having the world’s Number 1 tech hub. You will see Austin’s income inequality sky rocket too if it’s successful in attracting tech firms.

Go do a Google image search on Austin homeless. I see it’s well on its way becoming San Francisco. Side product of having tech firms rushing in.

Is the roast goose ready?

“Anyone who doesn’t believe that this latest departure isn’t a threat to California’s economy is a business-climate denier,” said Jim Wunderman, president and CEO of the Bay Area Council. “We are watching the unraveling of one of the world’s mightiest economies and the consequences will be devastating.

New label for @manch, BCD

“We can’t afford to dither any longer or California will permanently lose hundreds of thousands if not millions of jobs to states like Texas that place value on business and investment,” Wunderman said.

@manch,

My offer to show you around has no expiry date

Ok. I’d like to see your 6000 ft palace as well.

Oracle’s departure, along with Tesla founder Elon Musk’s move to Texas earlier in the week, sent some scrambling to calculate how much they would save in taxes by moving to the Lone Star State. Combined federal and state corporate taxes total roughly 28% in California and 21% in Texas.

“I doubt that anyone except Oracle’s tax department could give you a reasonable estimate,” said Joseph Vranich, a site selection consultant with Spectrum Location Solutions in Pennsylvania. “My clients tell me they have saved between 15% and 30% on their tax bills by moving to Texas.”

“The message Oracle’s departure sends to politicians is this: Just keep treating businesses with sheer contempt and you will see more businesses exit,” Vranich said. “I believe, based on the inquiries I’m receiving, that departures will increase in 2021 as the California Legislature most certainly will hike personal income taxes again, while localities statewide will also seek tax increases.”

Another sign that states courting Bay Area businesses are on a roll was word Friday from the Greater Phoenix Economic Council that California companies account for 28% of active prospects in its pipeline, President and CEO Chris Camacho told me, adding that several headquarters and advanced manufacturing operations are nearing announcement.

One of the loudest voices sounding the alarm Friday over Oracle’s stunning news was from the Bay Area Council, the region’s influential business group, which is chaired by Business Times Publisher and Market President Mary Huss.

“We can’t afford to dither any longer or California will permanently lose hundreds of thousands if not millions of jobs to states like Texas that place value on business and investment,” Wunderman said.

Even before Oracle made its move Friday, Tom Siebel, one of the Bay Area’s most prominent entrepreneurs, told the Silicon Valley Business Journal earlier this week, “I think every responsible chief executive officer has to consider moving their company out of California.
“If you’re not considering that, you’re not fulfilling your job for your shareholders and your employees,”* Siebel said. He said his family is here and he loves California, so for now his latest venture, artificial intelligence software maker C3.ai Inc., will stay in Redwood City.

Instead of sending the companies out of California, can we not send the bozos who are holding the power out of state?

The only good thing coming out of this exodus is that the people of the California who understand this matter might take charge and stem this rot.

:+1:

But who are the assholes who keep voting them in?

Be careful. Some of those asswholes are relocating to Texas. The problem is that many of those asswholes are highly educated duds with MS and PhD from Stanford and Berkeley.

1%ers flee while rat racers continue to churn 80 hrs a week making paper millions and living in a leaky shack and now taking experimental vaccine in CA.

“Former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush have said they will take a coronavirus vaccine once one is available and film it to build confidence in the U.S. about vaccine safety. Well, where are they at ? Bill Gates family and the 1% ers all said they are not taking the vaccination. After posted statistics… I think I’ll just roll with a more successful option and take nothing. Not one Politician took the vaccination they all got alternative treatments. Remember, what happen in South Korea and how many trials went bad, you got to be the most stupid person in the world to think you need an experiment Drug shot in your body. With a 99.99% to 95% chance survivor rate vs something known to murder, blind, cause brain damage, and it’s new to medicine, without scientific test that are known to be false. Plus if this was as bad as they say it is I would be seeing people die all over the place, especially the ones in large groups like the Rioters. No if world leaders go against their own restrictions that tells me they got better information from their intelligence reports that are classified. Besides if they had to block the anti-vaccinaters and silence the Medical community than no thanks it’s a no brainer for me… If they come knocking… Click, click“

the 1% will take some non risky option like chloroquine and or zinc.

omg the weather piece isn’t even comparable…it’s called humidity and the reason why I won’t ever move back to Texas.

Yeah, because even in SF which is tech heavy only 15% of people work in tech. How does that benefit the other 85%? The inequality in SF is literally that of a developing country, and it’s been getting worse not better.
