Austin MSA vs SFBA and TX vs CA

Maybe just follow whatever Texas has been doing all these years?

“It definitely is a surprise that California tends to lead on many issues but in this case, that’s not the case,” Alvarez said, mentioning that Texas has already graduated nearly 70,000 students over the course of decades, and he hopes California can be on the same trajectory. Eligible students must be residents of Mexico and demonstrate some level of financial need.

Only the federal government has a say in immigration policy. CA can’t unilaterally allow people in.

Kudo to @hanera for funding Mexican education by paying taxes in both CA and TX.

Fait Accompli :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I demand a tax credit or refund.

Texas housing bubble.

Price discovery goes hard in this town just outside of Dallas.

I thought high home prices mean a place is desirable, so we should invest there?

High home prices supported by high local income, yes. Otherwise it’s just a plain old bubble.

Texas and Austin in particular looks more and more like a bubble fueled by remote work, and the remote trend is reversing.

@manch is day dreaming. Help him cope with the deteriorating fundamentals of SF.

In my community… recent sale…

@manch logic model…

Selectively choose a house in DFW… deduce housing bubble in TX… hence housing bubble in Austin.

The Bay Area is literally one of the most consistently unaffordable parts of the country. You’ve always argued that’s nothing to worry about and is a sign of desirability. I guess no other area is allowed to have low affordability. That is clearly 100% logical.

Bay Area is home to something called the Silicon Valley. You should look it up. I heard it’s a source of great wealth.

Seriously? So home price to income ratios don’t apply? This just keeps getting funnier.

Glenn Kelman, CEO Redfin talking about people specifically moving away primarily from CA to other states @3 minute mark. States benefitting are Florida, Texas and few other Southern states.

California saves the nation.

You realize what that means? People should have paid that back in April. They filed extensions, so they are paying it now.

Bay Area counties got their tax deadline automatically extended this year. So to be more precise it’s the Bay Area that saves the nation.

Look at how big that number is. It’s enough to move the needle on federal deficit.

A deficit of more than three quarters of a trillion dollars in a single quarter is a good thing?
You realize Trump had entire years where it was at that level, right?

I heard something something about raging inflation.

we are those Bay Area people who desperately want to leave, but can’t pull the trigger due to the jobs here. even though both DH and I are still remote, we are not sure if we want to be at these companies forever and therefore…stay here and complain.

And frankly companies are not sure they want to hire you forever. It goes both ways.

Double the reasons to stay in our beautiful Bay Area.
