For most predators, males tend to live shorter because of constant fighting amongst males. Males are either killed during combat or die early from injuries. For humans, use to be that way too, also do much heavy physical work. However, in current environment, both men and women no longer do much physical work. Those stats are based on the past. If we start from 2000, the outcome could be different… we will know 60+ years from now.
Odd.
I wonder if it has to do with home size?
No obvious correlation to risk.
Florida should be high but isn’t on there. CA is something of an oddity with all the wildfires and theft. Folk in my old haunt are having trouble getting home insurance at any price.
I’m paying $1200 here in AZ but I have a high deductible. Still, my fire risk is rated “extreme” by just about any internet search engine.
This will turn out to disproportionally affect minority groups, and does nothing to address the underlying social issues as well as exacerbate the overcrowded prison problem.
Those who are promoting these new policies are racists.
An Apple spokeswoman confirmed the relocation decision, saying the company is bringing its “Data Operations Annotations teams in the US together at our campus in Austin, where a majority of the team is already based.” She added that “everyone currently employed will have the opportunity to continue their role with Apple in Austin.
Reading this type of stuff leads to people thinking they are educated.
“For instance, Texas homeowners pay an average effective property rate of 1.60%, compared to the national average of 0.99%; California homeowners pay an average effective property tax rate of 0.71%, but face a state income tax rate ranging from 1% to 12.3%. For some Texas homeowners, the savings from the absence of state taxes can be eaten up by higher property taxes, which is more than double California’s.”
That’s one of the dumbest things these article consistently get wrong, since property taxes are based on home value. They are completely ignoring the home value component and only focusing on the rate. It’s a very ignorant approach.
“If you’re making under $250,000 a year, moving states is not a big tax consideration,” Givargis said. “Now, the only times moving residency makes sense is if your net worth is in excess of $5 million to $10 million.”
Contrary to @manch’s view, writer suggested high paying should leave
Comparing RE, state is too large. Ideally neighborhood. Max should be MSA. Most of the time, we are assessing the implication of migrating from SV to Austin MSA. Price of a median priced home in SV is $1.5M, not $793k…
For instance, the California family would pay an annual state income tax of $2,341 and property tax of $5,635 on their median priced home of $793,700 at the 0.71% rate in 2023
Essentially solar might be viable because cost of electricity will become so high that people can’t afford it, hence they might be forced to solar. Same strategy was/is being used with regards to ICE vehicles and gas.
This will have other downstream effects negatively. CA does not exist in isolation, it has to compete with other states for business and resources.
Some energy experts said that rooftop solar could regain some of its financial appeal as California raises electricity rates, which are already among the highest in the country. The utilities commission recently approved higher rates for customers of the investor-owned utilities, Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric.
Customers of PG&E will soon pay about 45 cents per kilowatt-hour, up from about 35 cents. That works out to about $250 a month for 571 kilowatt-hours, the average usage for homes in California. By comparison, the national average retail electricity rate was 16.2 cents in October.
So, next year - free medical insurance for illegals, highest gas prices, among highest electricity rates, lowest ROI on taxes, $20 fast food minimum wage, highest minimum wages linked to inflation.
That plaza near Hegenberger and 880 has been a hot bed for crime for a very long time. It does not make sense the police is not able to catch the perpetrators after it happened so many times. The only possible explanation is they don’t want to solve the problem basically to stick it to the mayor for firing the police chief. The mayor is also fighting back by resisting to declare state of emergency for Oakland. Now there is a recall campaign to remove the mayor, maybe things will change.
“ The poll introduced a new topic – the whopping budget deficit that Newsom and the Legislature must address this year – and discovered that nearly 90% of voters consider it a serious issue and there’s almost no support (13%) for raising taxes to deal with it. Instead, voters prefer that Newsom and legislators cut spending (51%) or tap into state reserves (35%) to cover the deficit, which Newsom pegs at $38 billion but the Legislature’s budget analyst estimates to be $68 billion.”
That’s interesting voters don’t want taxes to be higher. I wonder if democrats will listen.
“However, Newsom’s budget advisors and those of the Legislature also agree that California faces continued multibillion-dollar deficits for the next several years, at least, which means the debate over spending cuts and taxes will continue for the remainder of Newsom’s governorship.”
