Bay Area retirement: ‘I’m going to have to move away — and I’m actually wealthy’

El Dorado Hills is cheaper than I expected. The house is maybe 2 min from the lake.

That’s cheaper than Seattle area. It must be a dump there and no one wants to live there

El Dorado is far away from Bay Area. There are brand new homes at Manteca (Meritage) and Lathrop (river Islands - lake homes) at a less expensive and new home community.

There are 20+ of my ex-company friends bought homes (first time home buyers) and people continue to migrate there even now. All of them bought in the last 3-6 months timeframe.

There are many other constructions going on, but these two are famous for deals (buyers are getting 5.5% rates with discount).

Eldorado Hills is the most expensive suburb of Sacramento on highway 50. Plenty of less expensive homes 10 minutes away. I bought my farm 10 minutes from Eldorado Hills. It’s in Rescue Ca. Very upscale but still affordable. Plenty of places cheaper like Placerville, Cameron Park Shingle Springs, Lotus, Cool, Eldorado, FairPlay…. Most have acreage and are in the Sacramento commute zone. 1.5 hrs to Tahoe. 2 hours to San Francisco

Oakland and Berkeley hills are very cute. Only issue is that schools are bad. I could see myself retiring there. Maybe too many stairs tho?

Acre lot. Walking distance to the lake. I’d prefer this to Austin.

Sounds legit.

That’s brilliant! If you can get some lookalikes to start the job for you though… 40 jobs in one week is a bit much to show up to.
