I’m probably the only one here that learned to drive a stick shift on a tractor. It was a small John Deere one. That was how my dad learned, so that’s how I learned.

I can’t imagine that thing has a synchromesh transmission. +99999 for extra difficulty! Grind the gears much?

It’s actually very forgiving. It’s near impossible to stall. In low gear, you don’t even need to press on the gas. You can just focus on getting used to the clutch.

I always thought powershiftig meant upshifting using the clutch but NOT letting off the gas. Clearly not activities of the rich and famous.

Please, no offensive, but on a farm with no one else bothering you? I learned to drive stick in normal SF traffic. In today’s world, I probably would have gotten shot by some peeved off driver behind me…
