Today a real estate agent told me that a big company is planning on opening a new office in Fremont area. Can anyone with knowledge of Fremont city meetings confirm this?
FB is adding offices there.
Probably this in Ardenwood area: https://www.mercurynews.com/2017/11/30/facebook-leases-fremont-buildings-for-big-expansion/

Exclusive: Facebook extends leasing spree with 750,000 square feet in Fremont for a new campus. It currently has about 300,000 sq ft in Fremont.
This brings the total in Fremont to 1M+ sq ftâŚ

Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) grabs another 750,000 square feet in Fremont in Ardenwood district

Updated Jun 14, 2018, 1:46pm PDTFacebook (NASDAQ: FB) leased 750,000 square feet of space in Fremont to create a âbook-endâ campus to complement its Menlo Park headquarters.
The social media company leased 14 buildings from development company Peery Arrillaga across the street from other properties it leased last year.
Like many tech companies, Facebook is looking east for potential growth to accommodate employee commutes.
âOur workforce has grown in the East Bay,â said John Tenanes, Facebookâs vice president of global facilities and real estate. âWe were lucky that (these properties) were convenient and available and provide the kind of a campus environment we like.â
Fremont is a mere eight-minute drive across the Dumbarton Bridge from Menlo Park, where the company leases, owns or is developing more than 2 million square feet of space, said Tenanes.
âThe (Fremont) site is fully entitled and buildings are already complete,â Tenanes said. âWe are kind of like hermit crabs. We like to move into buildings fairly quickly.â
Tenanes said the company has about 300,000 square feet in Fremont from the Sobrato Organization and has already moved some technical and lab workers into that space. Last year, the company leased a 6530 Paseo Padre Parkway and 6422 Commerce Drive in Fremontâs Ardenwood business district.
âWeâre delighted to see them expanding their presence in Fremont so soon,â said Christina Briggs, Fremontâs deputy director of economic development. âIt really validates the attractive nature of the Ardenwood area.â
The Ardenwood district is an established business park that was once mostly home to biotech companies, but is now drawing more tech companies. Last year, Tesla grabbed 229,000 square feet in buildings also owned by real estate development company Peery Arrillaga.
For the new space, Facebook has brought in San Francisco-based Studios Architecture to design a campus plan. The company expects to move employees into the recently leased Fremont buildings in six to nine months.
âThese are spaces where we will grow over time,â Tenanes said. âThis fits our long-term strategy for growth.â
That strategy, he said, is to have enough space ready where and when the company needs it. Facebook has been on a leasing tear in the Bay Area with a recent blockbuster deal to take the entire 750,000 square feet in Park Tower at 250 Howard St. in San Francisco.
The company also recently leased more than a 1 million square feet in Moffet Towers II in Sunnyvale and recently inked a deal to sublease 220,000 square feet from co-working operator WeWork in Mountain View.
Finding large spaces in the Bay Area to meet the companyâs main real estate goals is competitive, Tenanes said. Those goals are access to talent, housing for workers and transportation.
With traffic in Silicon Valley worsening, Facebook has teamed up with regional transit agency SamTrans to explore a new passenger rail line over the Dumbarton Bridge.
âThe infrastructure connecting the East Bay to Silicon Valley is really tough,â Tenanes said.
Facebook has grown to about 14,000 workers spread through its Bay Area offices, he said. Worldwide, the company is at about 28,000 employees.
1M sqft in Fremont which is about the same size is their main campus in Menlo Park or half the size of MPK total with all the new buildings. A lot of FB employees in Ardenwood and Newark area already.
Yes, I was talking to a Facebook intern, she confirmed that Facebook is extending a âBook Endâ campus in Fremont.
It is not new to have âBook Endâ campus across the bridge in the Bay Area. I remember in the 1990âs Sun Microsystems has âBook Endâ campus on both sides of the San Mateo bridge.
This campus is already in operation. Not like Tesla (where they moved only Marketing & Finance team to Fremont), FB has software development teams in Fremont.
so⌠then the Qn remains what is the mystery company and where in Fremont will it locate(if the news is true)?
He meant not the already existing Facebook campus in Ardenwood. I interpreted that as not Facebook. He didnât actually say that. Now, if there is one more big company then more power to you!
Newark should also go up I think⌠although Families with kids will prefer North Fremont with good schools(Elementaries - Ardenwood, Forest Park, Warwick, Brookvale, Oliveira, Patterson).
Timing?? starting 12 months from today and beyondâŚ(as employees move in 6-9 months from now)
speculators will speculate.
This is not speculation anymore. Itâs confirmed that FBâs Fremont office will be as big as its current Menlo Park office.
Awesome for Fremont area and the broader East Bay. Spread the wealth a bit!
