Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19

Most of the car crashes resulted by one of the drivers mistake.

second, since death is common for everyone, it does not justify killing everyone with Coronovirus related death !

All Country leaders did good job in locking down first, but unfortunately to open the economy to avoid country getting bankrupt level soon.

If quarantine or lock down is not there, it would have affected millions of people. We never know the consequences of spread or death rate without medication. Additionally, it is affecting millions with economic downturn across worldwide.

We work, earn to live long comfortably which is the driving force for everyone. This Coronovirus de-stabilizes the human survival and is an unknown biological war with nuclear reaction affecting the innocent people !

It is like Hitler opening the gas chamber asking the strong one to survive the attack !

Global influenza pandemic of 1918, which killed 675,000 people in the United States (nearly 0.8 percent of the 1910 population) and 40 million people worldwide from the early spring of 1918 through the late spring of 1919.

This is almost like that and bigger with more populations.

The principle is straightforward, if we can minimize the number of hospitalizations and deaths, we should. No idea why it is instructive to compare with other causes of deaths.

The minimal we should do in the public is to wear a mask and maintain a social distance of 3-6 feet. The rest of the measures are judgement calls, time will be the judge.

The shutdown has dire consequences. This is not a zero sum game. Doctors are for healing not for ruling our lifes and government.
They have bankrupted our health system. They are clueless about covid19. Have no cure, no vaccine. Their only solution is to stay home. For how long? Till a vaccine that has only a 70% chance of being effective in 4 years? Mask or no mask? Surfaces are dangerous. Now they are not. Sorry their track record is poor. The country has decided. We are opening up. Stay home if your are at risk.

Quarantine the sick not the healthy

What do you mean by this? High number of deaths occurred in nursing homes. Most deaths occurred in hospitals, right? So you need to be extremely clear of what you think is the right thing to do. Vague broad phrases mean zilch :-1:

True, Shutdown has economic consequences. Doctors are only recommend, but ultimate decision is by leaders (WH+congress or similar in other countries).

Remember the situation of 1917-1918 flu pandemic, this is exactly like this.

Either SIP (sure lay off or wfh) or work at site (potential death or sure hospitalization) situation.

It is not just WH+Congress took such decisions, but across all states and across all country leaders. Normally, in such situation, all government and all people are not wrong and it is not a hasty decision (but delayed decision).

Viewers, do not ask the company name.

In my company, first case was found 10:30 PM , entire building evacuated, sterilized all floors, next day 10 am CEO announced optional WFH (employees+contractors to decide) and address managers not to stop or block anyone WFH. The top management was very good in calling that shot, warning every managers not to block anyone WFH.

Next day, 90% of the people came to work, mostly fear of losing the job, but that resulted spread of virus in 4 buildings, complete team is deployed to evacuate everyone and sterilize all floors in four buildings.

If they do not do, potential lawsuit for Coronavirus medial related lawsuits…

Same day evening, another urgent meeting with CEO to announce mandatory WFH for all US employees and other countries.

This has happened one week before California public shutdown. Believe it or not, most of the employees+Contractors liked the way CEO+Management handled the situation.

It is about the life, even if people are laid off, they can get back to work later.

Now, appx 250 Corona cases within workforce across the world, but not due to company issue and potential law suits are avoided.

A new KFC-like fast food restaurant open yesterday :hugs:. No sit-in.

Yeah it means quarantining old sick people. Their own space not in an institution. They will die and the rest of us won’t if exposed to covid19.

In fact to get herd immunity 60% of the healthy need to be exposed. This SiP crap for the healthy just delays the inevitable.
There is no vaccine and there won’t be an effective one in 4 years maybe.
Everyone needs to be exposed. Quarantine the sick and vulnerable. The rest will be exposed. It is going to happen even if all those hoping for a vaccine hold their breath and hide at home for the next 4 years.

Is Klay ready yet?

There is an iOS app for that :grinning:

Stanford professor says lockdown saved no lives and likely cost some.
This is of course obvious and many here have been saying it for months. But some folks just don’t accept anything unless it’s from the mouth of a PhD.

Study: Texas leads the country at coronavirus spread

HK sucks.

The virology lab in Wuhan, the city at the heart of the outbreak, was working on three live strains of bat coronavirus, but none of them match the one that has caused the Covid-19 pandemic, its director has said.

Wang Yanyi, the director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, told Chinese state broadcaster CGTN that the closest genetic match to the virus spreading around the world was only 79.8%

Trump has previously said the US would see fewer than 100,000 deaths, a claim in contrast to 12 models the CDC uses. Deborah Birx of the White House coronavirus task force has repeatedly asserted the number of deaths by 1 June will be between 100,000 and 240,000 – if mitigation strategies continue.

Contrary to beliefs of Trump and certain bloggers, Birx’s model is fairly accurate

The first model said 2.5M. That’s what created all the fear to justify SIP. We aren’t overwhelming the healthcare system, so why is SIP needed?
