you have the wrong ideas.

  • this is not a redfin site, no association with any brokerage
  • while a number of frequent posters -including myself- hold a RE license for our own deals, I think there’s only one “active realtor”, and he has the word “realtor” in his name.

There are 2 types of “not active” realtors who have a current license:

  • the ones who use it for their own deals and they pay the ~$2000/yr in fees because they make much more money from it

  • the ones who have an current license, but never do any transaction; maybe they never got clients or they semi-retired from it; these usually have no association membership, have no access to MLS, and don’t have an employing broker (they may have a broker’s license)

The people on this board are probably all in category 1 and won’t bother. I’m not even interested in a 2.5% deal unless it’s for a friend.

Category #2 won’t be able to help you.

Best bet is to find an agent from Stockton or Fresno, where the typical commission is under $5000 - they might be interested in an hourly agreement with a retainer.

This means savingspro is an old timer, he knows us from redfin days onwards !

Do you know that you do not need a buyer’s agent to write an offer, you yourself can do it !

Instead of ill-treating a realtor, like handyman work at $300/contract, feel free to self submit your offer !

better yet, find the owner(seller) yourself and convince the seller to sell it directly to you, you can then bypass both buyer and seller agent.

The path to wealth is not achieved through nickeling and diming. With an attitude like that good luck finding a seller who wants to sell their house to someone like him when he can’t even pay top dollar.

This isn’t a Redfin site. They shut down their forum 2-3 years ago. We’re the people who got the boot plus a bunch of new members.

This is true. Lesson learned for me for sure. Really easy to try to save a dollar and spend $100 of time doing it.

Hey! Don’t insult Lexa like that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Assume savingspro is ex-redfinian as he knows we are all from redfin sites. He is just pointing that and elt1 suspects it is Lexa !
