China’s GDP per capita is only 20% of USA. It’s higher in the Chinese Bay Area but still that’s no comparison to ours. To me that’s super bullish. What if the Chinese caught up to only 60% of America? That’s already 3X the current level. China still has a lot of headroom.
I actually went to see some new apartments in Zhuhai, one of the cities in the Chinese Bay Area. The cap rate is super low, only around 1 to 1.5%. You can’t make a living being a landlord. Everybody is betting on appreciation.
The idea that higher income means you are better off is offset by high prices. .BA gdp is high but there are other areas that have lower costs…The important thing is to make a lot more than your neighbors. …Having BA money in Tahoe means living like a king…Here I am in the top 1%…With a much higher standard of living than when I lived in Redwood city( I couldnt afford to buy my old house at current prices) Now I live on the water in the best part of town…
Living in the BA I was maybe only maybe the top 10% of the economic strata
Average individual income in Tahoe is probably one 5th of the Peninsula
BA is great for making money. .But when you retire your BA house can be cashed out and you can move almost anywhere and live off your house proceeds…
