Husband Storage

He has a girlfriend who is not materialistic like that and actually believes in equal partnership?

B*stard…:grinning:

You guys are too funny. Happy Friday!

Unless the other person (who is not interested in buying stuff for him/herself) really enjoys accompanying shopper, going for shopping together is awfully (time) inefficient. Right?
However, I guess it may be just non-romantic engineer mindset.

You know, I’ve been thinking about this… and there is one thing that you should never shop for alone–that is a house.

If I’d dragged my husband to 300 houses, instead of going alone, I wonder if he’d have bought already just so he could sleep again on weekends.

You have hit upon the right strategy to make your home ownership dreams come to fruition!

Yes, we went for open houses all together (including kids).

However, as a person who really dislike shopping, we went to 5-6 open houses and made the first offer and got accepted. (For this outcome, I would like to give the credit to our realtor.).

Hum… I guess I really don’t like shopping.

Exactly, it is really any goal that you set for yourself. Honestly, though, too many people think too far down the road and then by the time they come to realize it things have already changed. I know plenty of otherwise smart people who got left out of the housing market and now they are paying for it one way or another. At the end of the day, a house (primary) is YOUR ROOF for your family. Don’t think any more, or less. In fact, you can almost say anything more is gravy (appreciation, tax breaks etc). When you own your home, you make the call on pretty much anything. No one can ever kick you out for an owner move-in, etc.

People in big Chinese cities like Shanghai most likely won’t drive because traffic jam and parking is horrible and subway lets you go everywhere. So a husband working as a mule to carry bags is very helpful.

Also at least in Hong Kong and I’d imagine the same in big Chinese cities, people go to malls not just to shop but to dine out and see movies. So shopping is just one part of a fun trip to the malls. Unless the wives want to eat out and see movies by themselves they’d really appreciate their husbands being there.

Plus, it’s a show of love that wives demand out of their husbands. Especially if husbands of all her friends and coworkers do the same.

That’s why today’s Chinese husbands are a bunch of castrated men. It’s a far cry from the good old days where every man had a few concubines to play around with. Karma bites back big time.

This is one of those time, knowing history is a bad thing. Husbands are not subjugated by wives, accompanying wives to shopping is a demonstration of you care about her, her interest, her joy and be a part of those experience. I always accompany my wife to shopping, help her choose clothes including lingerie, jewelry and gifts.

Shopping with your wife can be fun…Long ago I was with my girlfriend in St Tropez…The bathing suit boutique on the beach had lots of girls trying on suits in the store out in the open…
Smart boutiques should serve booze to their male customers. .In Florence they gave me a chair and wine…My wife tried on several outfits…I was a happy buying customer. .Much better than standing in the hot sun with all the tourists just to get into the museums…
