San Francisco Bay Area Home Sales Highest for a March in Five Years; Median Sale Price Nears Last Summer’s All-Time High

**

The March 2017 median sale price was 0.1 percent below the region’s all-time high
of $710,000 reached in June 2016, but adjusting for inflation, the March 2017 median remained about 11 percent below its June 2006 peak.
“Looking ahead, affordability will be a major hurdle for many home shoppers,” said LePage. “The year-over-year gains in the region’s median sale price have picked up over the past two months, and two counties—Alameda and Santa Clara—saw their overall medians hit all-time highs in March. If current trends hold, the region’s median sale price could easily surpass the current record—$710,000 reached in June 2016—during this spring or summer, at least in nominal terms.”

Bay area home sales without SF in 2016 couldn’t have been 7,219. It would have been 6,982 - 528 = 6,454. It’s a pretty glaring error since the sales volume growth excluding SF has to be positive.
