San Francisco: City of World Class Filth

Manch, do you actually walk outside your house???

Just talked to someone who was on 6th Ave last week having dinner. She said there were bonfires and people defecating on the street in front of her. Have you taken a walk around the city recently???

Like I said I was just at the SOMA CVS this afternoon. Unless someone planted that memory into my brain then yeah I have walked outside in the city. As recently as 5 hours ago today.

6th Ave is very rough. I sometimes drove through there and it’s like apocalypse. But you know what. SF is more than just that stretch of 6th.

Speaking of CVS does anyone ever wonder how come Walgreens are closing shops left and right but no one mentions CVS doing any mass closing? Or Target? In fact there’s a new Target near the 101 exit. Do they not have any thefts? Burglars only like “shopping” at Walgreens?

Burglars like to shop where employees let them steal. I remember a female cashier tackling a larger male shoplifter to the ground back in the good old days. If employees were allowed to take down shoplifters petty crime would go away.

Theft at Walgreens stores in San Francisco is four times the average of its stores across the country, Caruso said, and spending on security guards in San Francisco is 35 times more than the chain’s average in other cities.

Ben Dugan, CVS director of organized retail crime and corporate investigations, also provided internal data at the hearing showing similar issues concentrated in San Francisco. There are 155 CVS stores in the Bay Area, including 12 in San Francisco; yet those 12 stores make up 26% of all shoplifting incidents in the region, CVS said.

He called San Francisco “one of the epicenters of organized retail crime” and said the items are being stolen with the intent of selling them for re-profit.

They can’t. There were a couple cases where the shoplifter died and the lawsuits were huge. Now security guards will not engage or chase suspects.

Wasn’t this video captured not by an out of towner but by a journalist who is local.

That reminds me of conversations I had with my friends in Hong Kong. They always asked me whether it’s true there are rampant shootings in American schools, because that’s what they saw on their local news.

So two things are true at the same time. One, there are school shootings. They are real and they are bad problems in this country. But also true is two, America is a big country and in my piece of America they aren’t big problems. San Francisco is probably the last place in America where you worry about school shootings.

My point is, if your experience and knowledge about San Francisco is thru those occasional news headlines and constant fear mongering on right wing media, then sure, you would think the whole of SF is a hellhole. But if you are like me who actually live here, your perspective is different.

That should be obvious if you spend even one minute thinking about it. How come rent in SF is always either number one or two most expensive in the country, trading places with Manhattan from time to time? Life is so miserable that people willingly pay $4k a month to live in a one-bedroom to experience it? Does it gel with the narratives in your head?

We only have a short time in the planet. Hunkered down in the Sunset and not being able to go to downtown SF without being mugged, or seeing filth or getting towed is not the life I choose. I cannot even go to my 50th high school reunion because the city will not allow large gatherings but let people shit and shoot up on the street. Disgusting. Sorry it’s personal. The crazies stole my home town. The voters of SF had a choice… they chose wrong. Wait till all the cops quit who refuse to be vaccinated. Mayhem is coming.
For all you liberals and communists that support SF politics. Read about your heroes. We all know about Bernie the unemployable scumbag socialist who ran for President . How about Karl Marx The Life of Jenny Marx the biggest scumbag of all. With the blood of 100m on his hands.

Your denial is magnificent. People are talking about these incidents and such incidents are news worthy because they are still not a regular pattern. Once they become a little more regular, no one will even care about them, just as there are hundreds of hoods in America that no one talks about. The funny thing is that in one of the video, a hood dweller was wearing Biden T-shirt. I worked in one of the hoods when I was a graduate student. At that time I did not know such hood existed in every major town of east coast and Midwest. I thought the neighborhood I worked in was an exception.

Well I don’t need to go to Greenland to know it’s cold and I don’t need to go to Syria to know it’s unsafe. And I don’t need to go to shithole city San Francisco to know it stinks. Where these is smoke there is fire, better stay away.
Good luck and congratulations to you for living in filthy city. Perhaps your mind is now trained to accept and appreciate feces and urine on the street and the stinking smell everywhere.

That portion of 6th has been rough for 20+ years. It’s not a new phenomenon. Always wondered why the cops didn’t crack down since the drug trafficking is so obvious.

6th street was bad 50 years ago. The city just does not know how to deal with drug use and the homeless and poop.
Now the shit is everywhere.

Now that SF has pretty much legalized open drug use maybe they could go back to putting in porto-potties for them to defecate in…

February is too far away!
