my dad bought for my mom when she was 58 or so. I am not sure it is worth it, but lets see.
It’s a rip-off, at least MetLife was for my parents. They find endless reasons not to pay.

If you shelter your assets well, then the government pays for it anyway. For my grandpa, they took almost all his GM pension and social security to pay for it. My mom asked how people without a GM pension could afford it. The state pays the bill, and it’s less per month. People with money pay more to subsidize the rest.
It’s just another system of income redistribution that exists. It’s honestly shocking how many there are yet all we hear is how the system favors the wealthy.
