Because they are not smart enough? ASML is also hot. Monopoly on UV lithography equipments.
Due to…
So the 3 of 3 occurs midday is due to some smart money aware of the upgrade. Anyhoo, my long calls (Dec 18 $70), a risky bet, are happy. Let’s whether I can unload this with a good profit of M1 MBP size.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find the English version of this article. It’s from Nikkei and talks about the big global trend in semis.
Semiconductors industry can be roughly divided into four big sectors: design, material, equipment and manufacturing. China is getting pretty good at design but lacks bigly in the other three. Japanese firms are very good at material but the Number 3 player, a Taiwanese firm, is buying out a German company and leapfrogging to Number 2.
So Taiwan is setting out to be major player in both material and manufacturing. If China invaded Taiwan, we have no choice but to send troops to defend it. Very smart play for Taiwan. Silicon is truly the new oil.

South Korea i ahead of Japan and Taiwan. Japanese chemicals embargo could not stop South Korea.
South Korea is partner in Europe/Russia…
Which semi are you holding now?
My guess is AMD, NVDA and TSM.
My holding is MU and NVDA
I believe 2021 is even better than this year as more people (hopefully RHers) discover that semi is the new oil.

Have small amount with AVGO and TSM for dividends.

I noted that too. Is why I bot 100 recently ![]()
NVDA and SWKS has gone sideways for many months while semi like MU are roaring. Now MF publishes an article on this two leaders. Does MF have some non-public news or paid by clients to kickstart an uptrend? Time to long? I bot 100 NVDA shares a month ago thinking it will start mooning but still sideways ![]()
NVDA is mentioned again, this time as an AI stock. Ofc, MU my favorite, up up and away. Nobody has guessed that a memory chip stock can be sexy ![]()
Why is WS keeps pumping semi especially MU? MU is in correction mode for about 2-3 weeks yet such bullish articles keep coming out. I have to wonder!
Ok, one article is not so cool about MU.
Fifty-eight percent of investors told us shares of Nvidia will grow more by 2022, while 42% of respondents believe Micron stock will grow the most by the end of next year.
Pandemic money will be used for new factories.
By signing a joint declaration, a group of 18 EU member states have agreed to collaborate on expanding Europe’s presence in the global electronics and semiconductor industries. Using funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, which was set up to mitigate the economic and social impact of the coronavirus pandemic, their ambitions include building leading-edge manufacturing capability, eventually advancing towards 2nm nodes.
“Europe has all it takes to diversify and reduce critical dependencies, while remaining open. We’ll therefore need to set ambitious plans, from design of chips to advanced manufacturing progressing towards 2nm nodes, with the aim of differentiating and leading on our most important value chains,” says Thierry Breton, Commissioner for Internal Market, who welcomes the declaration.
The Recovery and Resilience Facility has 672.5 billion euros available for distribution through loans and grants. The 18 ‘ambitious’ member states call for earmarking 20 percent of the facility for the digital transition. That would amount to 145 billion euros over the next 2 to 3 years.
Let’s GO
Step aside TSLA and MRNA.

Edited on Jan 7:
Based on the EWA on Jan 5, I reduced MU holdings to 200 shares before earnings. Let’s whether I’m right.
2021 is the year of semiconductors. I own MU, NVDA and NXPI.
“We think 2021 is setting up to be a banner growth year for semiconductors as 1) the macro-economy recovers, 2) distribution channels refill, and 3) markets see increased semi content,” says Piper Sandler semiconductor analyst Harsh Kumar.
There were some crazy stories on Nikkei saying Japanese car firms have to cut back production because they can’t source enough semis. All capacity have gone to the hot tech firms like Apple and Nvidia. If Intel is really going to outsource expect shortage to become even more severe and that TSM stock to rocket to the moon.
They also mention EV has more than twice the amount of semis compared to ICE.
Some love for Broadcom and Marvell.
WS are rushing to talk about semi
MRVL is JC perennial favorite
Yes, I know details about NVDA, MU and AVGO, missed holding NVDA ($55 bought) and AVGO (around $50s), now they are way up.
Basic concept is buy low and hold long or buy low sell high.
Last 3 months, NVDA (now 550 middle) is flat between $500 and $590 range, while FDX (now $245 at depth) is dipped 23% (From $300 to $245). Both are good companies, and growth positive. Covid adding more pressure online shopping results lot of traffic on FDX, UPS and USPS…etc.
I suggested FDX for that purpose.
This is triggered by my algorithm to buy FDX now at $245, but NVDA was triggered at $504 which I missed on Jan 6th (hmmmm !).
I miss that one2 because of reading up on genome stocks.

I own NVDA NXPI TSM.
MU would $200 in 2022, sound good but much lower expected gain than other hot stocks.
Buy TSMC.
BTFD TSM and maybe INTC ![]()
MU NVDA TSM NXPI MXIM
Don’t have MXIM ![]()
“We are excited about the strengthening DRAM industry fundamentals,” Mehrotra said. “For the first time in our history, Micron is simultaneously leading on DRAM and NAND technologies, and we are in an excellent position to benefit from accelerating digital transformation of the global economy fueled by AI, 5G, cloud, and the intelligent edge.”
This is HUGE. Gelsinger is super smart. One of the original architects of the 486.
