Silicon Valley, East Bay gain wealthy households while middle-income dwindles

From the SJ Merc…In today’s Bay Area, what’s the dividing line between those who can make it and those who can’t? A new study suggests it’s a salary level that elsewhere might seem staggeringly high: $150,000 a year.

As I always say, the Bay Area is not for the faint of heart or wallet…

I’m surprised even the $100-150k is declining. That’s pretty crazy it’s that many households in a single year? I wonder how many of the new ones are created due to marriages each year? If you have two $100k singles get married, they’d be decline of 2 households in the $100-150k but add 1 $150k+ household.

Or those making 149,999 had a $1 raise this year.

It did make me wonder about acquisition or IPO activity. Maybe there was more than we thought. Than can cause a huge spike in income for a year or two.
