Minimize costs. Never buy a new car. Get married earlier to combine household costs. Maximize savings. Don’t buy stuff unless its on sale. Let compounding and time work for you. You don’t need to hit a home run, you just need to string together several good base hits.

Slight caveat. if both are mid or higher income, combine households but don’t get married. 2xSingle filing let’s you pay less taxes then married filing joint which is less then married filing separate. It’s not as good with the new tax laws, but still better then married filing joint.

I did not imply split up to save on taxes, but don’t get married in the first place. just combine households, but don’t get married.

Way I look at it. If you are going to get divorced to save a few bucks, your relationship has more issues then just that. OTOH, it’s perfectly ok in my book to not get hitched in the first place to save a few bucks but still have a family and what not. Because in the former case it’s a mercenary transaction overriding your life commitment while in the latter case, you are making a commitment and taking advantage of how the laws are set up to maximize the financial outcome for the family.
