Tax Cuts Don't Lead To Economic Growth. 65 Year Study Finds

Agree with labor wages is the ultimate driver of inflation. Previously wage spirals of SWEs cause houses in tech hubs to spiral up. Now, we have wage increase for all types of workers… not a concern?

The future direction of employment rate is still a big unknown.

when did this happen?

I think the only workers getting big raises are where automation has increased worker productivity, so it won’t be a cost increase. Amazon is a perfect example. Their $15 minimum wage isn’t inflationary due to productivity gains.

That would hit almost every tech families in SV. Democrat President can always count on tech guys in California for tax revenue

National tax limits always discriminate against high cost of living areas usally full of liberals that won’t whine as much as they should. The new tax laws should at least allow the deduction of state and local taxes without the $10k limit

Just for laughs!

Duh, the child tax credit is literally free money to low income people who have the most kids. It’s a refundable credit too, so now the % of people paying zero income taxes will be even higher. I thought you wanted us to be more like Europe? Their middle class pays far higher effective tax rates which is how they fund all their programs.

If one really wanted to help the lowest quintile one could reduce the unemployment rate to 3.5% by getting government off of people’s back - like Trump did. Rising wages, increasing opportunities to move up.

That’s why I prefer a Republican POTUS. Democrats’ forced wealth redistribution is creating an entitled population who don’t take personal responsibility for their decisions.

When power was devolved to the states it mattered less. Half the federal agencies that regulate state business didn’t exist when I was born. Those that did have greatly expanded their fiefdoms. Much of the welfare state didn’t exist either.
Don’t like the taxes, the regulations or the culture of a state? No problem, no need for “culture wars” or other conflicts, just hop state lines. The problem arises when an overly powerful federal government tries to impose uniformity everywhere. Doesn’t work in a country this size and this diverse. Doesn’t even work in smaller more homogeneous ones e.g. Germany with its Bavarian state or Canada and Quebec. At some point folks have to agree to disagaree on certain things and have the latitude to go their own way.

That trend has been building for decades. It’s the strongest in cities where democrats have had zero political opposition for decades, and now those cities are huge voting blocks. At this point, I don’t think it’s possible to stop it. They’ll only get bolder.

Every study shows tax compliance is highest when the tax code is simple. The issue with that is the lobbyists can’t get special tax treatment for the people they represent. There’s no logical reason to have a 70,000 page tax code. The fairest would be exempt income below the poverty line and tax all income above it at the same rate. No deductions, no credits, no different rates for different income types, and no gamification of the system. The issue is both sides would be against it. It’d take a ~15% rate to equal today’s income tax revenue.

It’s also funny people get up in arms about this but don’t care at all that nearly 50% of households don’t have to pay any income taxes. It may even go over 50% with the improved child tax credit. That’s some how “fair”.

People also don’t seem to care only 10% of people actually pay enough to cover their social security and Medicare benefits. That’s why those systems are so broken. You can’t have a sustainable system where 90% get back more than they paid into it.

Greater government control is the objective of all the left policies. Are people just now realizing this? The self-proclaimed intellectual elites are furious they don’t have control over things. Their egos are so huge they believe the country would be better off with them dictating decisions and micro managing our lives. The collective ignorance is shocking.
