I thought that a human had to be on premises while gas was being pumped for safety reasons. Otherwise, why can’t you pump gas when there’s no attendant? I’ve stopped by a couple of stations where the convenience store was closed, and the pumps were off too.
All gas stations have a person there to deal with whatever problems and issues may arise. There are still people who prefer to pay in cash

You see them everywhere, Costco, grocery stores, Target, etc. Soon we will be laughed at by millennials… with our preferred old fashioned payment method.
Heh, I’m one of them. Outdoor credit card readers at gas stations are a #1 target for fraudsters. Stations are independently owned and owners just don’t have the capital to make those things secure.
…not to mention the take from Visa and Mastercard is up to 5% for some retailers. So us cash customers are already subsidizing the credit card customers.
I read somewhere it costs more than 10% of gross revenue for weed shops to process payment because everything is in cash. The Fed’s don’t allow them to open bank accounts. Not to mention the big risk of being robbed.
What do they do with all the cash? Hard to buy houses or cars with cash more than $10k

So we’re about to spend billions on charging stations we may hardly ever use. This is the kind of mis-allocation of resources that happens when government tries to pick winners and losers. Once the convenience of swappable batteries catches on acceptance will happen at the rate the television become a household feature.

This is called semiconductor approach of development. A chips cost few hundred dollars but fab and R&D is in billions of dollars. Tesla still charging $130K for basically is modified version of production vehicle.
Vehicles like Mclaren and Ferrari are practically hand built thats why so expensive.
