Unable to send a private message

Hi,
I am a new user on this site, have been reading for a while but never created an account. I created an account today to send a PM to another user, but do not see any option to send a message when I go to Messages. Is something wrong with my account settings?

Go to that user’s profile page. There is a big “message” button.

Not your profile. Profile of the person you want to send message to.

Now my account status shows as “Basic” and I am able to see the “Message” buttton. Thanks manch and hanera.
