What protection does LLC provide a landlord?

Umbrella Insurance of $1M or Auto/Home Policy coverage of $1M

Hi Guys, Need some advice. I don’t have an umbrella insurance coverage. Recent events with a co-worker have me looking at my personal liability coverage. I use Geico and online quotes shows that raising my personal liability on existing auto & home insurance policies to $1M will cost 1/3rd of purchasing a $1M umbrella insurance policy. I am trying to figure out what exactly are the use cases where an umbrella insurance of $1M will provide coverage that an auto/home policy with $1M will not and then evaluate if those use cases apply to me. Hope that makes sense. Any advice/anecdotes/personal experiences are welcome. Thanks for sharing.

Just evaluating my options whether to have Umbrella insurance or not. Presently, I do not have any Umbrella insurance policy. How Important to have Umbrella insurance policy? Is it worth covering as I have few rentals and cars? If you have one, what is the lowest limit we can have?

I came across 2 years old thread about Asset Protection. I know many of us, esp investors or builders, have Umbrella Insurance. Do you take any additional steps to protect?

Timely Article On Single Member LLC

When Geico disallows more than 4 rentals, I have considered LLC for liability protection and possible bonus 15% tax rate. After much research, for my situation, no advantage, YMMV. An umbrella policy + landlord policy for each rental suffices. Only need to change from Geico to USLI for umbrella policy.

Ideal deductible on Home Insurance

Hi Guys, Need some advice on what you guys think is the ideal deductible on home insurance - both primary and rentals. This is more a poll question than request for advice on choosing deductible according to personal situation I want to know what the smart investors and home owners on this forum have chosen as their deductibles on primary and rental policies! Assume decent cash reserves, bay area level incomes, homes etc etc Many thanks for your feedback.
