What Sephora Knows About Women In Tech That SV Doesn't

“Managers say the retailer has managed to attract technical women by recruiting with an eye toward candidates’ potential rather than specific skills, encouraging hiring managers to take risks and ensuring that job performance is assessed fairly.”

Forget about qualifications and just hire based on gender. If this article was about hiring men this way, the whole process would be labeled sexist.

It does make sense to hire women when the vast, vast majority of your customers are women.

Actually, this is really important for a woman coming off of being a SAHM. My potential is fantastic, but my recent language list is not.

Interesting article. It seems discrimination against men and favoritism for women.

I assume Sephora is doing well because of its products. So is Sephora doing well with its technology (online marketing, online store, inventory management, etc)? I don’t know anything about this industry.

Sephora is owned by LVMH. Judging by its stock price it’s doing pretty well.
