Y Combinator Moving to SF

Speaking of San Francisco, we are considering moving YC to the city and are currently looking for space. The center of gravity for new startups has clearly shifted over the past five years, and although we love our space in Mountain View, we are rethinking whether the logistical tradeoff is worth it, especially given how difficult the commute has become. We also want to be closer to our Bay Area alumni, who disproportionately live and work in San Francisco.

Yeah, SF is so horrible that the legendary YC is moving here. The center of tech gravity, especially that of startups, is now unambiguously in San Francisco.

Not surprising since only singles are willing to eat a fraction of a fraction of the pie and share beds bedrooms with strangers in exchange to be near “entertainment” centers and swing bars where you can “havoc". SV is family-oriented.

Startup in SF, expand to SV when mature?

“I want to create my own startup and live it up with bars, parties, and world class restaurants in Mountain View / Cupertino / Sunnyvale” - said no 25-year-old ever.

SV is a nice place to raise kids, but has negative sexiness quotient for Generation-Reddit.

SV was way more happening in the 70s and 80s. Millienials are boring.
