South San Jose school district decides to close three schools

The valley’s high cost of housing has contributed to a drop in student enrollment. As families with young children flee to more affordable areas, Oak Grove has lost more than 200 students annually for the past four years. That’s projected to cost the district $2.3 million this year.

Oak Grove has lost 1,800 students since a high in 1996-’97, a 15 percent drop.

The same thing is happening all across South Bay.

What happen to the teachers?

I imagine they move to areas cheaper and still continue to teach if that is their love or they unfortunately do other things…

All 3 schools have poor academics. Maybe the school district is trying to mix students to other schools. These schools are all close by, it’s pretty suspicious to close all 3 at the same time. Could be a political move to “narrow achievement gap”
