Are GOOG, FB, AMZN, AAPL, NFLX all bad workplaces? None is in the top 30.
Maybe a company can not be good to shareholders and workers at the same time.
I can’t imagine a law firm being a great place to work. Maybe it’s great in terms of challenges but law firms are known to be life draining.

Do these companies need a PR campaign to attract potential employees?
Firms need to agree to let greatplacetowork.com to survey their employees 
and take pictures of the workplace.

Work life balance can be lacking in those companies. Money is not the only concern.

Have nothing to do with work-life balance. Everyday there are requests, those companies you mention just not interested in entertaining great place request that’s all. Firms have to be selective, their businesses is not dealing with journalists and sites like “great place"
Glassdoor’s rankings include all companies. It’s a better ranking list. Most of the truly top places don’t participate in great places.
