AI's Investment Implications

Zuck up to Jensen?

Jacob Chansley, better known a the Qanon Shaman, is now running for Congress and made a sweep through Payson. I missed him.

Talent war.

Very interested to see apple’s progress on AI this June. Everybody is spending bigly.

AI is hot because a few big corporations e.g. MSFT, META,… panic buy H100s, then H200s, now B200s. Techies and tech investors read about it and get excited too. Reality is many people don’t use Gen AI chatbots at all…

I’m no expert but I think AI is best with questions that have definitive answers. Those aren’t the sort of questions most people ask unless maybe they’re just looking for good Chinese food or something

Everybody except Apple.

FIFY.

Anyhoo, who is everybody? Always hear the same few names e.g. MSFT, AMZN, GOOG and META, who else? Those companies have an AdTech and/or cloud computing business. Are you agreeing that Apple needs not spend much $ because they don’t have a cloud computing business or should they spend as much as those guys? If latter, please enlighten. Don’t bother to reply if you don’t has a CS degree

Hares who bought tons of H100s and B200s would regret. Tortoise who everybody ridicule could have the last laugh. Parrots would be cooked.

OMG. LLM hype is dying down? Those companies that didn’t buy many H100s are wise. Sorry for those who bought a lot, poor investments, bad return. Zero brain parrots :-1: :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Pardon my ignorance. What kind of AI do Agents use?

Wait a minute. No need for LLM?

So LLM is :-1:

Which one is potential $1T market cap?

Who are guilty of AI washing  Those that bought thousands of H100s?
In 2024, many layoffs are due to AI replacing employees e.g. 1 + AI replaces 5 employees.

Gartner Places Generative AI on the Peak of Inflated Expectations on the 2023 Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies

Another application.
Maybe you don’t want Johnny to know grandpa died?

6 days ago, Gartner published that Gen AI has hit the peak of inflated expectations and NVDA entered into a bear market. Is this because winners (according to a SF frog) are not able to recover their purchase of H100s and losers are not buying in huge quantities. Evidence is showing that the cost of Gen AI is expensive and companies are not able to recover their expenses because of low usage. IMHO, the current way of implementing Gen AI is not suitable for mainstream.

Btw, picture of the innovation wave in last post is incomplete. Below is a more complete wave.
From an investment perspective, should try to buy Gen AI stocks around “trough of disillusionment” Long term, NVDA will yield good return but those 100-1000 baggers would probably appear a few years from now. Open your eyes wide and keep your ears on the ground… watch and listen… don’t miss  the opportunities.

AI has a blitzscaling issue.

Look like four big camps competing with each other…

  1. Apple and Google
  2. Meta
  3. Microsoft and OpenAI
  4. Tesla
