Read properly. Is from city to suburb. Although not much details are given, is likely from city of Austin to Williamson county City of Austin is following the path of SF, no good⦠homeless, high tax rate, etc.
I thought you have learned to understand ānuancesā from reading NYT and WP⦠always like to use words like ānuancesā, āmore nuanced than thatā, ā¦
Name the top forty small towns in Texas.
My favorites on the list in California are South Lake Tahoe and San Clemente.
Number 38 and 40. I would rank them 1 and 2
Ofc not Williamson county⦠not apple2apple comparison. Liberty Hill population has increased by more than 1000 during that period. Criteria used by the article is unclear.
Those graphics clearly show numbers of all 3 tiers of millionaires: 1-2M, 2-50M, and over 50M are surging in the last 3 years in CA.
No doubt some millionaires left CA. Always happens. But those who left are vastly outnumbered by the ones newly created here. The wealth creating engine in CA is still humming along full speed even in the depth of the pandemic.
Other states focus on how many rich people they can steal from California. California says who cares. We create dozens of new ones every day.
This description of Austin sounds exactly like any random city in prime Bay Area. If you substitute the word āAustinā with say āCupertinoā itās still an accurate description.
Why canāt journalists understand the difference between income and wealth? The state doesnāt collect wealth data. They collect income data from income tax returns. Those are income numbers. Iām not surprised to see the increase given the crazy stock market rebound from covid lows and how some companies went parabolic. The number of people who consistently make those amounts each year is miniscule. Most people reaching those levels are benefiting from one-time events.
Texas power prices for Sunday surged more than 800% as searing heat pushes demand toward record levels and strains supplies on the state grid.
Electricity prices for the grid rose to more than $2,500 a megawatt-hour for Sunday evening, up from Saturdayās high of about $275, according to data from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the grid operator. The surplus of available power capacity on the grid versus power consumption will narrow to 1.6 gigawatts in the hour ending at 6 p.m. Sunday, a level that can trigger emergency responses, though Ercot has additional reserves it can tap to meet demand.
Doesnāt seem like a nice place to live:
Most of the state is under a heat advisory with large swaths of it under an excessive heat warning, according to the National Weather Service. Dallas may see temperatures rise to 107F (42C) on Sunday afternoon with a heat index of 111 for the second consecutive day.
