Ski Texas. That used to be on bumper stickers in Taos New Mexico. Yesterday I was on my farm planting palm trees. Today I was skiing, 80 minutes drive away from my farm. Try that in Texas.
Nah. I gave you 20 yearsâ worth of growth stats and you only gave me one quarter? The yearly number is not even an official data but some black box metrics from Yelp. Quick question, do you know if the Yelp index is weighed with each businessâ revenue? And how does Yelp know about some local mom-and-pop businessâ revenue?
Economy is not a one-factor function. It has lots of inputs. Some of these factors favor California and some favor Texas. Thatâs all I have been saying. Look at the whole picture instead of getting obsessed over your single pet peeve.
California used to be conservative state not too long ago. What is the point of 20 years data. most of the deterioration picked up speed in last 10 years. Sorry!!
Thatâs OK!! Skiing is not the only thing you live for.
Skiing is indicative of the amazing bounty, diversity and variety of activities available in CA. People moving to Texas probably just spend their time driving back an forth to work and the mall.
There is no dispute over the amazing bounty California has. Political climate is deteriorating. That is what is bothersome.
@manch and @Elt1 keeps talking about the pros when we have been talking about the toxic political climate. Do we have communication issue or they have listening issue?
Just today I suggested a home-buyer to not overpay for single family home unless planning to stay at least for 10 years, and not buy townhouse or condo. I do not believe astronomical home prices are returning to California, regardless of uncountable footfall reported at open houses. And if prices drop suddenly, he will be saddled with an underwater asset.
I will wait for at least three years of confirmed upward movement in home prices to change my suggestion about prices in SFBA. I am not suggesting town-home and condos because there are so many of them coming online in next couple of years. I am an old fashioned buyer, unless I have a way of touching the earth that I own, I do not feel i am a home owner.
Politics suck generally. Are you in love with the Texas government? California progressives are annoying but I am willing to fight back. I want to live here. I am not moving just because Newsom is an asshole any more than liberals are leaving the country because of Trump.
I am going nowhere. I am a fighter and survivor. I do not know how to run away.
I do not know whether I love government somewhere else. But, the focus is the misgovernment in California.
In the meantime we Californians thank you for your contribution to our tax revenue. ![]()
Huh? Didnât you run from India to SV?
America is a land of experimentation. Each state is a laboratory testing out different policy approaches. I am happy we have Texas as a counter balance against California. If Texasâ approach proves to be more successful there will be pressure on other states to copy Texas. Ditto for California.
With all the CA liberals moving to Texas chances are it will become more like California.
How long will California hide behind the pretext of being "an experiment " in a land of experiments (ie the USA)? How long does California want to be given immunity to its misguided and tyrannical politics?
Borrowing from the stock market, at some point you have to cut the losses and quite a loosing trade.
Basically, you cannot take a proven incompetence, and give it a fancy name - experiment.
Texas is about 20 to 30 years behind California. 30 years ago Republican Pete Wilson was governor of California. Bit by bit the GOPs were run out of the entire state.
The demographics of Texas is following the flight path of California. 10 years from now it will turn blue.
Left and Liberals had good run for 150 years. They sounded fresh and convincing when they did. They are no longer winning. Just look at the events unfolding all over the world.
Invest in Texas for your children. Take action now!
True. Donât think @manch is aware of that. He is wearing horse blinkers. Trump changed from Democrat to Republican, and won because he knew.
