Phoenix? Austin? These places will have 120 degree summers. How are they good place to escape?
These places will have 120 degrees summers under climate change.
Very hot days (over 110F) are historically very rare, almost never occurring. However, by 2011-2040, the higher scenario predicts that one such day may occur on average anywhere from once every 10 years up to 2 times per year. By mid-century (2041-2070) the number of very hot days is projected to range from an average of two every 5 years under a lower scenario up to 12 per year under a higher scenario. By 2071-2100, an average of 1 day per year is projected under a lower, and as many as 20 days per year under a higher, scenario.

"Portland is also one of the only cities with a working group tasked with reducing racial and economic inequality as it relates to potential climate-action policies "
What on earth does that even mean?
Also, these people are pretending city policy will influence the climate of that city? I was unaware that each city has a bubble over it where the atmospheric CO2 levels are determined by activity in the city. The is one of the most idiotic things I’ve read. They’re also considering how well a city would do against natural disaster. Maybe they should look at what’s the risk of disaster. Who cares how well Seattle would handle a hurricane? The fact the article is labeled “science” is an insult to human intelligence.
You say will have 120 degree summers.
The link you provide says very hot days over 110 F is only 1 per year under a lower scenario for 2071-2100!
Summer lasts only 1 day? How you interpret 110 F as 120 degree? Different temperature scale?
I think the journalist of the business insider article is saying many places would be very hot, so 110 F might be considered warm and not too warm ![]()
Somewhere that’s warm but not too warm, free from roof-toppling hurricanes and ground-rumbling earthquakes, and close to a river or ocean but far enough to avoid the threats of flooding and sea-level rise.
In any case, I just read the article with a pin of salt because some cities mentioned in the article has earthquakes ![]()
You say will have 120 degree summers.
Well, I wrote from my memory first.
The link you provide says very hot days over 110 F is only 1 per year under a lower scenario for 2071-2100!
How about under a higher scenario?
By 2071-2100, an average of 1 day per year is projected under a lower, and as many as 20 days per year under a higher scenario.
