Now that I have hung out at crypto twitter for a little while, there’s a clear ideological divide between the Bitcoin people and the Ethereum people.
The BTC maxis are mostly right wing. They like to talk macros and trashing the Fed. Most would tell you how inflation is many times higher than reported. As expected I am pretty turned off by their nonstop conspiracy theories.
The Ethereum side though is pretty left wing. They like to talk about the tech revolution brought on by the decentralized permissionless platform. Reminds me a lot of how people used to talk about the internet back in the 90s. A very idealistic “let’s build”, can-do, “something huge is happening right now” revolutionary spirit. I feel more at home in this camp.
I’m a casual supporter. I’m all for Asian-Americans in government, media, board rooms, etc. Too many of us are stuck for one reason or another in middle-management.
I was on the #WuTrain for a bit too even though she is way too liberal for me. It is Boston’s problems now. Even if I don’t agree with all the views/policies, at least they are at the table!
I try to evaluate each person or issue case by case regardless of affiliation but sometimes I can’t help my identity politics. Oh well.
You should go all out for identity politics. Other people of color are all into identity politics. They are using that to push themselves into everything… I am thinking when is the time to leave… is getting worse and worse for us.
The true non-id politics is in Singapore. Pure meritocracy-based. And very pragmatic.
