California becoming a National joke

Banning gas powered garden equipment. I will buy my gas powered machines in Nevada until the environmental nazies come to take them from my dead hands…

I have met Kevin Kiley several times. He is very impressive. Wrote a book Recall Newsom. He is my congressman. Should run for Governor or Senate. He’s probably gay. If he comes out he could win.

The current SF population decline is a record pace that’s even faster than Detroit. Wow…

It’s crazy how dysfunctional SF and the whole state have become.

I think a lot of people are happy people are leaving. Too many people too much traffic and too much stress. Personally I would love to see California become what is was like when the population was 50% less… not going to happen.

The issue is the tax structure of the state. The state budget heavily relies on income tax from the highest income people. They are leaving now. That’s going to blow a giant hole in the state budget. It’s not a viable model anymore.

That’s going to be the issue for SF too. The loss of tax revenue means less money to deal with the issues.

And they just keep on milking this cohort. A wealthy family we know relocated to Texas to avoid the wealth taxes that CA has been threatening. I’m guessing they were worth 50M, but it’s a slippery slope down. Some day they’ll be taxing those with $10M and then just $1M. Which would be every property owner.

I didn’t watch the debate, but if Kiley is right, it’s also crazy that Newsom thinks he can just go and outright lie about these things.

For sure the educational system is pretty meh. I’m told North Star Academy in Redwood City is supposed to be the #1 public middle school in the state. That’s pretty scary. They don’t even offer Geometry. Which also make me wonder why Hillview doesn’t get that accolade since they do.

Politicians can lie about anything. AZ is closing a coal plant in a couple years. Going to try and replace the output with wind and solar. Some politico opined that it was great that we were getting rid of “expensive coal.” Kentuckians on coal fired plants pay about one quarter as much as Californians do with the state’s reliance on renewables. These people just lie through their teeth and folk are too dumb to fact check or even sanity check any of it. Must be all those crappy schools.
I’m dropping 14k on an 18 KW Generac which is being installed as I type this. I’m afraid that by the time AZ’s electricity becomes as unreliable as CA’s - give it 5-10 years - they may be banned. Merry Christmas to me.

After some out of state trips this fall, my wife has actually said that, while she loves living two blocks away from daughter and granddaughter, the people and lifestyle are so much more attractive than here.

It has helped that, this year we’ve made frequent trips to Sacramento and Roseville to spend time with friends. And, unless we leave and return midday, 60 and eighty mile one way trips up I80 to there, are taking 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours regularly. With construction and accident delays often adding an hour or more to that!

She’s finally seeing the light.

After yesterday’s articles about the upcoming $68B budget shortfall with more to come over many years, I can only see things getting worse. Infrastructure. Crime. Traffic.

What’s really sad is that the proposed "solutions’ are the same, idealist drivel. More money! Rehabilitation not incarceration. Major public transit spending.

What was it that Einstein was alleged to have said about doing the same thing over and expecting a different result?

Have any of you seen the Forever California proposal for a new city in Solano County?

And, the income of many “higher income” people tends to fluctuate quite a bit. Way more than wage slaves realize.
