Even if there’s a supply shortage, coordinating procurement is a pretty obvious thing to do when you are dealing with this many states/hospitals.

I don’t understand why that’s confusing?

it doesn’t seem like there’s anything out there to procure. Unless the gov’t is going to search homes and confiscate masks, the companies that are making them should be coordinating directly with the hospitals. I also don’t see why the gov’t is involved except to order someone to convert their factory to making masks. Which could be useful…

How do you know things are going to where they are needed the most versus to who is willing to pay the most if you don’t centrally coordinate
