On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, while speaking with former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani ®, conceded that Democrats want amnesty for illegal immigrants to win their votes:
Giuliani: “It isn’t just the Republicans, it’s the Democrats, too.”
Matthews: “No, it’s both sides. Look, would you trust either Party to enforce the laws about illegal hiring?”
Giuliani: “Neither Party has done it!”
Matthews: “I know. They don’t believe in it. They want cheap labor—and the Democrats want votes. Let’s face it.”
Matthews’ admission substantiates a comment made in early 2014 by DNC Vice Chairwoman Donna Brazile on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” Speaking of immigration reform, Brazile said:
“I don’t think you can create two classes of citizens in this society, one with legal status and the right to vote, and one without.”
Conservatives and media pundits have openly speculated for many years that the goal of “comprehensive immigration reform” on the part of the Democratic Party was a maneuver to put in place a new voting bloc. Apparently, Matthews agrees.
Is Romney that kind of guy? But I think Trump’s advantage is his outsider status. Nobody likes him but half the country voted for him. Maybe it’s the choice made by history. He beat so many republicans and a strong democratic candidate in the middle of an overwhelming media attack. It’s not a random event.
Now with the presidential power and the exclusive media attention, he has a huge advantage in 4 years. No one can match his publicity, you can imagine that he can use a few tweets to shut off the media coverage for the poor guy or girl candidate. During election, many people would know very little about the other candidate. How much of Hillary’s message got across to voters? Granted, Hillary might intentionally cut back on her message and wanted to let Trump fail by himself.
He can send a non-harmful but controversial tweet at the crucial time and reduce the media coverage of the opponent.
And what if he sends out a few tweets that are liked by the people? He is the center of media, the whole world is tuning into his message
I think what we all want is a Prez who is more focused on learning how to run the country than worrying about his daughter’s sales figures. I have agreed with the idea that we want an outsider and someone with some balls but a good leader also doesn’t sweat the little sheet because believe me the big sheet is coming around the corner one day…
I am not too fond of political threads. But we live in a hyper political time, so that’s unavoidable. The last thing I want to do is censoring anybody.
I still think the best way to approach this kind of etiquette question is to imagine yourself in a party. There are many small groups of people, just like we have many threads. In some group, i.e. thread, people talk about politics. That’s fine. In some other group people just want to talk about their kids. It’s not very polite to barge into the kids group and suddenly give a long speech on politics.
Sorry manch, I got carried away many times. But there are too many topics on immigration here. One after another one, and they don’t have anything to do with real estate, they open them to degrade immigrants or to berate or fall into cheap politics. I touch immigration and real estate combined in my topics. Well, except for one, which I opened to see how hypocritical some people are. My fault, and my apologies.
Any deportations are going to affect you guys investing, believe it or not, you are not seeing it coming!
No problem @buyinghouse. I think one reason why people find your posts jarring is that you responded to some posts late. The discussion in that thread has already moved on and people didn’t even know why you are upset and what you are referring to.
