Democratic presidential candidates for 2020

It’s literally straight up wealth confiscation and redistribution. If successful, why stop at student loans? Apply it to mortgages too.

Of similar sentiments. Let her fund it first. :rage:

If that is all Democrat candidates promise, better vote for Trump.

Wah lau, need to borrow more money.

Is your interpretation of this graph a joke?

This is a great Rorschach test for the difference between conservative and liberal viewpoints on income inequality.

I’m not sure if you all realize this, but if income inequality becomes crazy extreme, say the top 1% owns 99% of wealth and income, then the top 1 percent will pay like 99.9% of the tax burden!

Oh noes, poor top 1% paying all that tax. Meanwhile the bottom 90% literally have no money to significantly pay to taxes anyways. Would you consider them freeloaders in that case?

Since the top 1% have been increasing their share of the wealth in this time period (curiously absent from this graph!), clearly the tax burden on them hasn’t affected them significantly. If it had, their share would be decreasing.

What a joke.

Student loans were conceived to allow more people to afford college. All they did was inflate the cost and drive many into crushing debt. Students loans were a bad idea. Student loan forgiveness is an even worse idea… Maybe the whole program should be reworked…Only give loans for needed programs. Have employers handle the loans for training for jobs actually needed.

I’ll respond with actual numbers and facts. The top 1% earn 17% of the income and pay 45% of the income taxes.

Top 1% increasing own more and more of the wealth. That is a fact.

Taxes are based on income not wealth.

Similar to insurance  Ditto for the housing policy

Exactly. And the very wealthy make most money on capital gains not income. Thus income tax iy shows part of the picture

But by raising doubts about eliminating private insurance, or ending border enforcement, John Delaney, Tim Ryan and John Hickenlooper provided a service to Democratic voters. They are warning that the desire to oust Donald Trump doesn’t justify a transformation of American society. They are making the point, as Mr. Delaney put it, that “bad policies like Medicare for all, free everything and impossible promises” will “turn off independent voters and get Trump re-elected.”
