Drought is over

Ever since the passing of Herb Caen the Chomicle is no longer a trusted news source…
It contradicts the headline in the article. Typical sensationalism from a fish wrap rag. I would like to see an article about the real story. How environmental wackos have stopped dam building for 50 years while the State population doubled and a politically caused drought terrorized millions and help contribute to our extreme housing shortage not including lack of adequate flood control and devastating effects on the communities in the valley. Well at least the delta smelt are happy???

Only the far northern and southeastern portions of the state remain in drought or are “abnormally dry” — a label for areas that are one step below a formal drought classification.

There really is no agreed upon definition of drought,” said Gleick. “Sometimes it’s, it’s a hydrologic drought – referring to how much water is available to nature. Sometimes it’s a meteorological drought – related to how much rain and snow we get. And sometimes it’s a political drought.”

Drought is just a word political hacks use to manipulate people

“Scientists warn the flooding will worsen as historically huge snowpack from the Sierra Nevada melts and sends more water into the basin. This week, a heat wave could prompt widespread snow melt in the mountains and threaten the small farming communities already dealing with the resurrected Tulare Lake.”

There’s still a drought, right?

My kids keep asking me whether we’re still in a drought. Not sure what to say…

I suppose the best answer would be “Don’t ever waste water. Our water bill is never really going down ever.”

The drought was conjured up to fleece the public with high water bills.
I wonder where all the money goes. But the public utilities in California are thieves. My PGE bill on my farm is $300 a month and I am hardly there. In the summer it will be $800/m when my well is pumping 100,000 gallons a month. If I had to use the local water company the bill would be $4000/m. Water companies have been given carte blanche to rob us blind.

I think the answer is “Not this year, but maybe next year.”

Thanks Mom! (I will take more 30 min showers this year then…)

You do it. Gotta flush out those sewer systems.

I have been taking 2 minute showers since the 70s. Remember if it’s yellow let it mellow if it’s brown flush it down. We were duped. The bureaucracy took us for fools and have been gouging us ever since with outrageous water bills. The billions collected could have easily built dams to get rid of the political drought. Instead the money went to public unions and bureaucrats. Water company engineers get $200k per year to do absolutely nothing.

Lakes are full

See, drought is not over!!!

“This year we did not release extra water, we just released some of that volume earlier than normally we do," Bader explained. “So we moved some of that volume from the summer to winter months so people saw more volume in February and March than they normally do but that’ll be shaved back this summer so the overall volume will be the same.””

You mean the human mismanagement of water isn’t over.

Trinity Lake’s mismanagement perfectly illustrates how incompetent our government employees really are. They sound like total fools in the article.

Folsom lake today. 10’ from full . Dumping water like crazy.

The water being released is spectacular… .the white stuff is raging water… so far they’re dumping 6x their capacity. Dumping enough water to satisfy most of the state’s water needs.

Connect a really long hose to those still drought areas!!! LOL

My solution for global warming caused sea level rise and the drought.
Put a pipeline to Greenland and pump the water to Nevada. Build dams and fill Nevada with water to a depth of 6000’ elevation.
Put a bubble over Vegas … the modern Atlantis…
sell beach front property on all the mountains that above 6000’.

Please delete your post immediately. If loonies see it, they might actually go for it and triple our taxes

My better solution is build a 1000’ high dam below Sacramento. Flood the capital and wash out all the politicians to sea.
