Man, if I didn’t have to care for my Mom I would consider waiting in what will be a long line to pay my respects…
I pay my respects in spirit and here on the forum…
Unfortunately, we are in the era of disrespect for people when they are alive, but praising when they are dead. Some people die, but never heard a thank you from the people helped by them. We are human beings bent to criticize, but never to accept the good in that evil people we condemn. Mea culpa.
Did you know he was a community organizer? A title that has been berated beyond belief lately. I don’t see any problem with people walking the walk on their communities, it’s the only way to get to know from people what’s going on in their neighborhoods.
For what I know, he gained the respect of the SF community big time, and in the many articles or interviews with people I heard on the radio, I never heard the word Chinese or else. Some people transcend the threshold of racism by pointing out at the race of any person and by doing that they think that will demerit their achievements, or that will impede them from following or continuing the legacy of another person.
RIP Mayor Ed Lee.
Yes, I don’t think he was ever partial to his own race and tried to be fair to all, as any politician is supposed to be.
Poor Ed is dead. Only a year older than me. Looks like he was a workaholic… Devoting himself to a thankless job and not taking care of himself. And not eating right.
His favorite meal was a heart attack on a plate…
Kim said Lee would order his favorite dish: the Mahalo Loco Moco, which consists of a beef patty and two eggs over easy, layered on steamed rice and covered with brown gravy.
We should all take more time to take better care of ourselves…
I thought that was a healthy meal? I had 3 eggs and beef for my meals today. I think he ate the right stuff, but the job was too stressful plus he didn’t have time to exercise.
Well, it was probably the combination of genetics (Dad died early too), work stress, diet and no time for rigorous exercise. But then again, you have George Burns who smoked cigars to 100…
Combined with carbs and gravy fat… not so healthy.
Plus he was overweight… does not look like he exercised much.
So sad, you live, fight for other people’s rights, benefits, whatever.
At the end, when you die, somebody, somewhere will say a bad thing about you and that may have more value than whatever good you did for so many years.
RIP
