The South’s Restaurant Reopening Is Going About As Well As You’d Expect
It turns out you can't unthaw an economy overnight during a pandemic.

Really good but my fave is La Barbecue - ex pit master from Franklin, just as good and lines aren’t as long
Never been to Texas. I need to get out there.

Berkeley is moving fast to expand outdoor dining
The new Uber guy is good.
Momofuku is banking on cost-cutting and new consumer products to weather the storm. Few other restaurant groups will be able to do the same.
It appears $131 is from adjustments. That must be where they were out-of-stock on what was ordered. What’s the $231 promotions? Is that the restaurant making the offer or grub hub forces them into it? The math for restaurants is the food cost needs to be 20-25% of menu price to turn a profit. The issue with delivery only is restaurants still have a lot of their overhead expense, but their dining room is closed. I bet delivery orders on top of a full dining room makes delivery profitable. There’s no way delivery profits are enough to cover the rent of the full restaurant.
Overpriced crap.
Specialty's Cafe & Bakery, a restaurant brand headquartered in Pleasanton and operating more than 50 locations in three states, announced on Friday that they will be closing for good in the days ahead.
Wow. I’m not surprised though. Their core business is lunch for office employees. There’s one walking distance from the office. People like it since you can order ahead then just pick it up. Business catering was big for them too.
That sucks. I like their cookies…
Overpriced crap.

So harsh. You must eat very well.
Sweetgreen fan?
What about Mixt greens?
Made the mistake of eating there 3 or 4 times? The soup was tiny. Spent over 10 bucks and still came out hungry…
Overpriced crap.

Noooooooooooo
Man, did not know Specialty has so many fans.
The idea of "family" is key to the restaurant chain’s image. But to some hourly employees, that core concept has rung hollow during the pandemic.
Several restaurants are open Tahoe. But local bureaucrats tell tourists to stay away.
Dreamforce is the money-making event of the year for SoMa bars and restaurants. Now it’s vanished into the virtual ether, perhaps for good.
