How the Coronavirus will affect Bay Area Housing Market

I was more focused on the 100% part.

Yes, and if it were in Palo Alto instead, I’d 100% be sending my daughter there. Sending a 6th grade girl through tent cities to get to school should give most parents pause. And then there’s SF clothing optional day, reefer day, and public urination day–which is everyday. :frowning:

San Francisco, the only city with its own emoji :poop:

I think maybe you should spend a month or two living in the city full time. Seriously. Much of what you describe concentrates in a very small part of town and besides homeless people don’t really hurt others. They are an eyesore I guess but if they are really up to no goods they would be robbing banks and stuff and not wasting helplessly on the streets.

I have daughters as well and I am far more worried they get lured into some white vans and driven away. Homeless people? Not so much.

An agent reached out to me trying to sell a house with 15 units of which 12 are vacant.
If SF is so great why so many vacant homes? South Bay, Tahoe, Austin, Sac, etc. properties are all occupied and SF is sitting empty in spite of 20% rent drop.

Cycles.

You can ask the same question of many things, like if Apple is so great why its stock fell 50% so many times?

He had to let them go vacant so he didn’t have to pay them off (err, pay them to move) when he wanted to sell.

This is the drawback with oppressive renter protection laws. Less rentals available because it’s so hard to get people out.

I don’t think there’s much of that left in our legislature.

I used go to school by bus in Sf in the sixties. It was a shithole then. It is a lot worse now. Kids from my school were often attacked by kids at Balboa HS. We had a closed campus because of it. I would never let my kids walk alone in SF.

SF really seems like the new slum of CA.

Thoughts and prayers to Marc Benioff for living in a slum.

India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani (many times richer than Marc) lives right next to one of the biggest slums in Mumbai in his $2B (yes B) house. Nothing different here. Slum brings slumlords.

SF will never be restored to a place people without mental illness would want to call home.

Now Marc Benioff has mental illness too?

Simple solution. Round up the homeless and process them. The criminals go to prison. The drug addicts go to rehab. The families that are legit get houses subsidies for housing in Fresno. And the scammers will be sent back to Oakland are wherever their real home is. For all you liberals, I got processed through the Oakland induction center In 1971 for the draft. This is no different. Time to man up . Fuck the liberal guilt and get this country on track for the real world. I have seriously had it with the whining and agonizing . The homeless have to go and we know how to do it.
The government has the power and the right to get the crazies off the street to protect the rest of us. The truly mentally ill need to put in secure facilities even if they object. If you refused to be drafted you were sent to prison. Life is tough but coddling the homeless solves nothing.

Just like what European immigrants did to the natives centuries ago? This is insanity. There is no going back.

Bullshit. The draft was used for over 150 years. The rights of the rest of us need to be protected. National emergency… we dragged young men out of their homes and sent them to die. Forcing homeless to protect themselves seems like a minor inconvenience in comparison. I remember. The rest of you have no idea how powerful government can be. Wait till the socialists take over. We will all be homeless.

Its not a world war.3. Be compassionate buddy. If you do not like it move out. Go back to your ancestral country even. Its not your land to begin with.

Compassion and good intentions lead to the road to hell. SF is the most compassionate city in America. Caused a shithole. I already moved, the hippies and the radical left stole my town 50 years ago. For those who want it back stand up to the progressives the rip off generation the homeless the druggies and the deviants. They destroyed SF. Not people like me that helped build thousands of homes. Fought the nimbyies and the bureaucracy. Sorry but you are the one complaining about the results. Obviously the compassion and guilt didn’t work.

It’s not compassionate to let people live on the street as drug addicts. That’s apathy and indifference. I’m not even sure how a tent city is better than a prison where you have heat, food, a toilet and a shower. Sometimes tough love is needed to get people back on their feet.

Liberals think that letting people do their own thing is compassionate. What is compassionate about letting crazy people self medicate on the street in misery until they die from exposure or drug overdose. That’s not compassionate that’s indifference and cruelty. They need to be saved from themselves. Liberal guilt is a failure. If is destroying our cities and tearing our country apart.
BTW I am the only one on this forum who was born in the BA. I have watched my home being systematically destroyed by white liberals. I resent being told to return to my home country. My home country is Berkeley and I am no longer welcome there.
