Got a letter from SCC reminding me to pay up on 4/10. No bailout.

This seems consistent with what Jil posted about Redwood Trust.

Both my wife and I are working from home, along with my oldest back from college, and 2 younger ones. We are all competing for bandwidth, and the house. At least for me, the outcome of this stress test is I do not want to work from home on a regular basis.

I am definitely not as productive working from home than in office, even without everyone else in the house. Pretty sure I am not the minority on this. Companies will realize from this stress test that work-from-home is not for most people in terms of being productive. One has to be super disciplined and focused in order to be good at working from home. So I doubt we will see mass H-1B exodus out of the bay area. But I could be wrong.

If they were serious they would fire half the city employees. And eliminate the planning and building departments.

“Renters must still pay the full back rent to their landlords—there’s no rent freeze included—but no matter how long repayment takes, it can never be used as grounds to evict.”

This seems like a gaping hole for tenants to exploit.

Yah you could live there forever and not pay rent. Don’t see how it can survive a court challenge. Oakland administrators are just dumb

They are not dumb. Nobody is dumb. It’s all intentional.

The rents not paid in the next few months will never be reimbursed.

The government is killing private markets. The landlords will basically become government contractors.

The terminal decline of California I have been talking for a long time. A confiscatory state is on move.

It can survive if the appointed judges are true to their masters. Legislation from benches is a big problem in the western world.

What about him/her view of WFH?

Thank for the alternative opinion.

Not a difficult issue to resolve in the future.

:+1:

Majority of the members of the city council don’t have rental!
