You want government spending to triple? You realize that means your taxes would likely triple too. You’re also ok having almost no rights as a landlord? I find it very odd you’d be cheering to pay so much more in taxes and lose rights as a landlord.
You can blame it on the media all you want but it goes a lot deeper than a few comments about MS-13. This man is the most corrupt president since Kennedy (who admittedly got away with it because i. the media loved him and ii. he was assassinated before everyone caught on). I would have taken any of the other Republican primary contenders in 2016 over Hilary but the party had to pick Trump. It was a big F U, if we can’t get what we want let’s elect this ***hole and burn the whole thing down move that was pulled on the rest of the country.
The “party” who picked Trump was actually US citzens who voted in primaries. The republicans party leaders wanted anyone but Trump. He won anyway. Republicans didn’t rig the primary the way democrats did for Hillary.
I don’t vote just for my own self interests. Plus, my interests are more than just taxes and property rights. Those are important topics, no doubt, but far from the only ones.
You mean the minority of citizens that voted for him in the general election?
‘Party’ in this context clearly means registered Republicans. Nice job trying to twist my words to make a tangential point and change the subject. Fox news would be proud!
This time also Democrats “rigged” the primary for Biden.
skill based immigration. Not dishwashers.
I recently watched some program on PBS where the Chinese govt is picking up people as threat, based on how they look(based on some facial recognition/AI algorithm). Seems so stupid (i.e. how face looks has nothing to do with threat level) & very dangerous to Chinese citizens. This shows that having AI skills has no value when one can’t understand where it actually works.
People who are voting for Trump have exactly the same argument as above.
Except they believe(rightly or wrongly) Taxes and property rights should be numero uno in their priorities.
A recent paper says it’s not as black and white as you may think.

Whereas Australia has pursued a skills-based migration policy, the United States has privileged family-based migration. The key contrast between these migration regimes provides a rare test of how national immigration policy shapes immigrant selection and integration. Does a skills-based immigration regime result in a more select group of Asian immigrants in Australia compared to their counterparts in the United States? Are Asian immigrants more integrated into their host society in Australia compared to the United States? Focusing on four groups of Asian immigrants in both countries (Chinese, Indians, Filipinos, and Vietnamese), this article addresses these questions using a transpacific comparison. Despite Australia’s skills-based immigration policy, we find that Asian immigrants in Australia are less hyper-selected than their counterparts in the United States. Asian immigrants in Australia also report worse labor market outcomes than those in the United States, with the exception of Vietnamese—a refugee group. Altogether, these findings challenge the conventional wisdom that skills-based immigration policy not only results in more selected immigrants, but also positively influences their integration into the host society.
I don’t know what you watch, OR if you watch anything at all except Nickelodeon… but that was unnecessary.
My non-PC answer is that because it prepares our society to be welcoming to immigrants, and immigrants are keys to our economy and dominance in tech.
Crikey, you caught me!
Haven’t had cable since college so it is pretty much Netflix and Chill unless someone links to something.
@manch doesn’t realize his desire immigration program is almost identical to Trump’s.
Also, who was the last President who didn’t mention immigration reform? Yet, there hasn’t been any material changes.
There’s a section of the Republican Party that doesn’t want any immigration. They’ll oppose all of it. There’s a section of the Democrat Party who thinks merit based is racist and a non-starter. Those two factions have enough votes to block any meaningful changes. Every Presidential candidate will campaign on it and nothing will happen.
A majority of non-California voted for him. People in California have no clue how badly most of the country hates California politics and wants no part of them. California is so far left that Harris a moderate.
Bill Clinton would never stand a chance at the nomination today. He’d probably be considered a republican. He reduced capitals gains tax. Today, all democrats want to increase it. He signed legislation to require work to eligible for welfare benefits. Today, that’s a racist non-starter for democrats. People don’t even realize how far left democrats have gone in the last 20-30 years.
Feinstein of all people used to be against illegal immigration, because of the budget strain it put on California schools and hospitals.
actually yes
Netflix must be so proud! ![]()
really?
Can police here(in USA) arrest people “pre emptively” due to that?
