I Just Filled Out My Ballot

Come on, I may have a number 8 fetish but things I am quite aware of are:

  1. Lil Kim is not getting my vote after her Tenant 2.0 legislation allowing more roommates than perhaps stated in one’s lease agreement got passed.

  2. Trees are no different from the concrete sidewalk that we homeowners are required to maintain. WTF do I have to take care of something that is outside my house? Don’t we pay enough property taxes for that???

Sorry, got a lil carried away there… @hanera got me all riled up with his wanting to copy Colin Kapernick by going against the grain by not voting…

Haven’t done my ballot yet but have spent $2500 on ammunition so far this year and I’m not done yet. This is in response to already-passed laws and the near-certain passage of Prop 63 despite every single police organization opposing it. Reacting to all the nonsense takes more time and effort than casting the useless ballots. On the rare occasion that something common-sense passes the courts strike it down. Am looking at real estate in AZ for when my mother passes and I’m no longer needed here to check up on her and manage her affairs. Area like Pine and Camp Verde look good - nice climate at 4-6000 ft. The higher, ‘ritzier’ elevations are a bit harsh in winter.

(Note to self: do not piss off @acre…acre is always right, never wrong…)

Are people concerned that the early ballot votes will get stuck into a warehouse somewhere and not get counted?

The propositions have perverted the democratic process…They are promoted by special interests with questionable legality…Many are matched by a counter proposition. .I am inclined to vote against all…I would be for one that would make it harder for them all to get on the ballot

Ballot measures is mob democracy at its best. I agree with @elt1. We should make it far harder to put on random measures. Why should I be bothered whether porn actors wear condoms or not? There is also one measure with no effect at all. It’s just a grandstand against Citizen United. Funny though. It’s also the longest.

Something big with systemic importance we the voters should get to decide. Examples like how districting is done (aka gerrymandered) and whether to abolish death sentence.

Folks, I mailed out our ballots yesterday. Vote!

Well, vote by mail accounts for 61% of the votes in 2014! And the share has been rising over time. 2010 it was 48%. 2012: 51%. 2014 bam! 61%.

So I bet you 100 bucks our votes get counted. :sunglasses:

Yes, I agree with this. This is main reason we review all measures and vote. These are very important for me to stop special interest group.

It is interesting to read about how voting came about on a Tuesday in this country but I think it might work better in getting higher turn-out if it were moved to say the first Saturday of November. More people are off on the weekend and you would get a lot more time to read up on the various measures and props. No more excuses that oh I was too busy at work and at home cooking dinner to make in there before closing.

The answer is “vote by mail”, Mr. Online Payment.

But voter turn-out is pretty dismal regardless of how you cut it. It is embarrassingly low for what is the greatest country on the planet. Snail mail is absolutely not the answer. My god, how much more of this crap do we have to listen to or watch on tv even after Tuesday because well not all of the mailed in votes have been counted yet???

The propositions add to low voter turnout…Who wants to wade through 100 pages of crap…Just vote No on all propositions from now on…

Actually given how long our CA ballots are, I seriously doubt how anyone can make informed decisions if they vote in person on Nov 8. You have to read the arguments for and against, and often times even research online. If it’s just Hillary vs Trump, of course, you can be done in a jiffy.

I say we do what Oregon does and only does mail-in voting. No more in-person voting.

Believe it or not, it’s actually very hard to get a measure put on the ballot unless you have a lot of money. Mobilizing grassroots citizens to get the signatures needed has almost always failed.

But if you have the money to pay the professionals, you can get a many sigs as you need.

I would love to make it easier to get citizen organized ballot measures easier to do and paid per sig measures much harder.

They send the booklet in the mail, so if you have done your homework, you can go in with a list.

While we are at it (and I know the pros/cons of it, but still) eliminate the electoral college!!! Most votes WINS!!!

Why should we have to do the homework?. .the legislature should do its job…Propositions are deliberately written to be çonfusing. .Written by special interests to obfuscate the political process…Then when they pass many end up in court…A very ineffective way to govern…Thank god we don’t have national propositions

Some of the measures on the ballot are such jokes. Seriously mandatory condom in porn?? Really?

I was hoping for more flyers from the adult porn industry"explaining" why this was not the way to go…

The whole proposition process is a joke…perverted by special interests with armies of lawyers writing confusing language designed to deliberately bamboozle the public…A trully disgusting display of mob rule…
