I have looked at a few grow houses. They are usally trashed, and require major renovation . One I bid on in Tahoe. An REO. Sold for way more than my offer.
I tried to help a buyer interested in buying a house in Hillsborough that was seized by the DEA.
The Chinese owners were arrested for importing Ecstacy. The house had illegal additions and tons of dry rot. A mess
. I inspected the property extensively… never found any Ecstacy… lol

Why would they turn a $700k home into a grow house. They could have made more money flipping houses.
These crooks are just plain stupid. Of course the DEA searches records for excessive electricity use.
Dumb. More money in flipping.

For instance, a home in Wilton that sold for $695,000 as a rental was purchased in part using six wire transfers — each for $49,989 — and a seventh for $14,989 that were sent in a six-day period, officials say.

They must be using the whole house to grow. The average is 600 plants per house. I have a friend that grows legally. You can have up to 100 plants if you have a prescription. He can only fit 33 plants in a 2-car garage. The power usage is insane if you don’t go solar.

They should have done this in Detroit. There are tons of vacant homes. You don’t even have to buy them. You just start using them. That’s way cheaper than paying $700k/house.

These crimlinals were idiots…Why would you risk a $700k asset? In total hundreds of millions. Why not grow it in rentals, abandoned warehouses or in the woods…
They had tons of cash could have made millions legitimately…Lost it all and jail time too…mind bogglingly stupid…The DEA searches at night wirh infrared from helicopters they can spot grow house instantly…

Very interesting. Another area with lots of illegal going ons are in Rancho Tehama. Someone told me that his neighbor has two wives. One in Sacramento and another in Rancho Tehama. Both places are for growing weed. He has 3 or more properties in Rancho Tehama and complex of homes in Sacramento. The man is from Laos and his wives are Chinese and Laotian.
