In Michigan, just about every grocery store has a machine that scans them. Once you’re done you get a receipt that’s redeemable for cash at the grocery store. The average recycling rate of beverage containers is 33%. Michigan is 97%.
Michigan’s pays twice as much as we do for recyclables.
20 cents? Or do we pay 5 cents? I thought we were 10 but I don’t buy much soda
Michigan is 10 cents. It’s been that forever. They have never adjusted it for inflation.
It is NEVER acceptable for civilian to obstruct any parking spaces on any public street, not even on trash days. The proper way to stage your trash bins is in front of your own driveway, preferably towards the middle to maximize the distance between the trash bins and the nearest vehicle on either side. Hence making the trash collectors job much easier and also avoiding any trivial bitterness between neighbors. Even tho it somehow has become the norm to stage trash bins to in a public parking space but before you get angry because you think you are being wronged when someone blocks your trash bins, you should familiarize yourself with your local city ordinances in the city which you live. Whoever placed the trash cans there would be the one getting ticketed.
