Look like I am about to witness the 2nd Tech bust in my lifetime. 1st tech bust is dotcom which decimate the entire stock portfolio, luckily I move whatever remaining $ to the one that matter. I don’t know when WS will slaughter those RHers, but it will come. When it happens, most of the stocks in my no DD Jim Cramer stocks would probably become insolvent or bought over. Which one on the list below is the future AAPL or AMZN? Hopefully one of them is
I keep hearing the “more growth” theory on companies with 2-10B market cap. That’s true for the companies that eventually grow, after the fact. The problem is that there are so many of them right now, how do you know beforehand which ones are winners?
The 200B crowd is much smaller, with more press coverage and regular outsiders like you and me know them better. Even if they only grow maybe 4x in five years, mathematically their expected value may be higher.
First is filter in Finviz, 2B-10B, then look at average volume > 1 M and daily volume > 1M
Volume reflects investors visibility and easy liquidity. If we have 2M above, it is far better choice. In some cases 5M or 10M level above volume (after 3 months of IPO, but not immediately)
You can also filter the companies in finViz and save as portfolio, watch for 30 days to choose the best.
Then, drill down its fundamentals - as if you are a CEO/CFO - to look at viability in the long run (20 years)
You can use CANSLIM method to find the best company. This book was authored by IBD owner Neil. The CANSLIM concise pdf (100 pages) is available in the internet freely if you do not like to read the book.
You will find almost 75% to 80% of good companies by this method. Except market fluctuation, most of the companies will grow if they have clear moat (innovation or special capability). The leader of a field is always winning as they pre-empt all competitors at the starting point in a race.
I already have AYX. Will add more after the crash. Curious about FSLY.
Some other companies I may open positions, again after the ceash:
SE, from Singapore
NET, Cloudfare has become critical internet infrastructure
SPOT, I am a happy customer and impressed by their execution and strategy
SHAK, want to try some restaurant names. But first I need to eat their burger. Haven’t tried one yet.
NET, ZS, PANW and CRWD do almost the same thing, huge overlap Why not the other three? You own those three already?
Soros own ZS PANW CRWD ZEN SPLK DDOG. No NET I used to own PANW SPLK but foolishly sold to watch TV serials, and realize they have rocketed. Now I have to re-build my moonshot portfolio. Took me awhile to build the previous one comprising PANW SPLK SHOP VEEV OKTA SQ - very annoyed with myself. This time 100% buy n hold and no more cheeky trading.
