Don’t worry our assholes on the City council are useless too… They want to ban vacation rentals… Even though this a vacation town and half the houses here are empty most of the time… In fact on my block there are only 4 houses out of 20 are occupied full time… they think they can solve the housing shortage by stopping short term vacation rentals… Similar to rent control… communism by another name …
It is amazing SLT has the property tax revenue of a town twice the size in other words they have twice the tax money that a typical town 25,000 has and yet it always complains they don’t have enough money for City services. Plus in addition they get $10 million a year in short term occupancy taxes from vacation rentals and hotels … and yet they complain they are out of money to take care of the roads and to maintain basic city services.
There is a city initiative to raise sales taxes to pay for Road maintenance… They can’t seem to control spending… several bureaucrats make $250k/year… That is more than the governor salary of $190k

It’s always a revenue problem.
San Diego has the same spending problem. The city recently announced it is taking care of the homeless problems by supplying them with tents. The cost of the tents- 5k for a tent that sleeps 4.

So he released his long form birth certificate which the state of Hawaii said was no more or less legal than the short form one that he had originally provided.
