Not all rural people are rednecks. And not all rednecks live in rural areas.
When you think about it there is no proper replacement for the word redneck. And many rednecks like being called rednecks. 
If Druzolowski felt that his property rights were being violated, contacting local authorities would have been a better initial step rather than resorting to threats or violence.

Look, if he didn’t have a gun (granted legally… blah blah blah) he would not be facing the rest of his life behind jail, away from his wife. Sad, but true.
I am NOT condoning his deadly reaction but the neighbor should not have trespassed onto property. What if it were something else and say it was in the middle of the night?
I totally understand where you’re coming from. Trespassing is a serious matter. But, looking at it in terms of everyone’s safety, reaching out to the local authorities would have likely been the wiser choice.
