Court reporter, please go back to the beginning of our lil tiff with Mr. Sleepless In Seattle. It was he who actually stated that San Jose would overtake SF.
I may gloat or show love for the Fab 7x7 but I wouldn’t initiate a conversation about how my city is better than yours. Purely defensive play…
Ok, so if we follow your logic (and I am in complete agreement that SJ’s population will grow) how in the world will you actually enjoy living in a congested city like that with a poor mass transportation system? Come on, isn’t the traffic already horrendous enough down there?
Yes, young, single people who care about going out regularly and casual sex prefer to live in SF. People flee the city once they get married and have kids. SF is literally the city with the lowest percent of children and by a wide margin. You can’t be a great city if people want to leave once they get married and have kids which are 2 things the vast majority of adults do. If you’re a great city, then people WANT to raise their kids in the city. So congrats for being known as a town where it’s fun for recent college grads to go out and get laid.
You are completely missing what I am defining as a great city. A great city has nothing to do with population size only or the presence of kids. It is what the world views you in general as a result of things done there. That is what a great city is. Do you think someone in Switzerland or Denmark knows what a San Jose is? Please.
No, because have we seen anything out of the SJ legislators that proved to be earth shattering or noteworthy on a wide scale? You can’t be great if you aren’t proposing great things…
Come on, and my fav city doesn’t? The point is, how can San Jose manage when it becomes even larger and more unruly??? Imagine if the tech boom went away, would SJ be able to effectively deal with it?
I think when people are bragging about San Jose, they are not bragging about San Jose itself, but Santa Clara County minus East San Jose. And when people are comparing San Jose to San Francisco here, they are actually comparing the Silicon Valley stretch of Palo Alto all the way to West San Jose, and stops right there.
Naturally, if you are compare that stretch to San Francisco, it’s going to beat San Francisco hands down. No doubt about it. This is your Apple+Google+Facebook neighborhood with multi-million dollar homes with a minimum of $1.5M average selling price. No metro in America can beat that.
