I am thinking of selling my house. Should I install new carpet or let the new owner do it so that they pick their own color?
How bad is it? Stained? Smelly, worn, torn?
If so yes. Go with a light neutral color. Beige is probably the safest bet. HD about $2/SF installed
Fresh paint, staging and fresh up the garden… all will return more than double the cost invested.

Always go with installing new. Most people want move in ready. Moving sucks enough without having to deal with getting carpet installed between closing and moving. It also makes the house look much newer.

Please get decent carpet, and not white or off-white. We moved in, and the crap carpet still smells 2 years later. Might be the glue.
