The argument that prevailed says that San Jose needs 640 new apartments to relieve its housing crisis more than it needs 216 rent-controlled ones.

They are also planning an urban village on Stevens Creek and Saratoga at the old Garden City site. It will include 871 rental units along with 1600 sq.ft. of retail and 360,000 sq.ft. of office space. I think rents are going to come down because they are overbuilding rentals.
